Family Fun Science Slime

Family Fun Science Slime

Hello Sunshine! Well, I don’t mind telling you that I am the annoying baby sister! My brother and I are only a year and a 1/2 apart so we always played toys together as kids. The neighborhood kid and my brother always picked on us little kids because we were smaller. I always followed my brother along because I wanted to be ‘cool’ and he always let me because he wanted me to stay out of trouble.

When we visit my brother who is now a single father of my 2 nephews he was telling them the story of how I would always take his Star Wars play lands and play with my Barbies in them. I can remember playing in some Ice castle as if it was Barbies cool ‘All white modern’ home. Even then I was a bit trendy. When my nephews heard the story they were just laughing thinking how bad they felt for my brother! They are very polite though. They said, “Excuse me, but that sounds really bad.” At least he said excuse me? Well, We are going to make slime when they are here!

The classic is always slime. You have probably made it before, if not try it out. I always love to make the slime and say~ similar to family~ no matter how much you pull it apart, it gets back together, like when they fly back to Seattle, they are still family and we will always be together. I like that each of us can make our favorite color and of course, the boys would never make pink, they need me around for that!

You only need a few items to make the science slime:

  • 1 Cup Elmer’s School Glue
  • 1 teaspoon Boorax (in the laundry detergent department)
  • 3/4 Cup Cold Water
  • Assorted Food Color of Your Preference
  • 1/2 Cup Hot Water
  • Zipper Bags for Storage of Science Slime

Instructions:

  1. Mix together the cold water, glue, & your preferred food coloring. (I Chose Pink)
  2. In a Mixing Cup or Small Bowl, mix together the Hot water & Borax, until the borax is Completely dissolved.
  3. Slowly add Borax mixture to the Glue Mixture, mix well. Pour off excess water, if any. You will notice the slime begin to form. Perfect lesson for the kiddos!

Super easy peasy right? Well, it is! And it is fun to make with the kids. They love seeing how it forms to a solid ball of slime right before their eyes. I have made this with kids that we had over some of my sons friends and maybe now my nephews will make it with their friends.

One things for sure, Barbie and my toy Mini Coopers will be playing with pink slime with my nephews! I have to be their lovable Auntie that girls everything up! I hope you get to make slime soon.

Thanks for sharing &

Lots of Love,

DIY Room & Linen Spray

D.I.Y. Room & Linen Spray http://princessmouseycards.com

D.I.Y. Room & Linen Spray
http://princessmouseycards.com

Hello Sunshine! I hope you are well. You are not going to believe this, but I had not adjusted to the time change. I was having trouble sleeping, then I was having trouble getting up in the morning.

So, I decided to make my own ‘Sleepy Time Linen Spray.’ I use aromatherapy often, so making my own room and linen spray is perfect. Here is my formula for my insomnia.

  • You will need a small bottle to make/put the spray in. I use a 2 oz. bottle because you want to make this when you will need to use it.
  • 20 drops of 100 % PURE  Lavender oil. Make sure it is pure and not diluted with water or alcohol. Also, make sure the Essential Oil is clear or you may stain your sheets or anywhere you spray.
  • 1 oz. of Vodka (The vodka helps the fragrance last longer).

All you need to do is pour the ingredients in the 2 oz. bottle and shake it. You will need to shake the bottle before each use. I like to spray on my sheets at the top where I place my head and the lavender relaxes me. Then I spray the room.

Another mixture I like to make is Stress relief:

I just substitute the oils with 5 drops of eucalyptus & 5 drops of peppermint. Both of these oils are very strong so I don’t need as many drops.

Ok, I truly enjoy a  fall seasonal cleaning spray from a certain brand. Well, I decided to make it into a room spray that I can have all year long! It is orange & clove! Now our home smells like the house is clean!

Really, you can make so many, but !00% pure essential oils are really strong and there is no need to use so much. Very important to keep that in mind. Start with just a few amount of drops and if the fragrance is too light, then add a few more.

I only make 2 oz. bottles at a time because you only want to make them when you are going to use them & store them in a cool area of your home away from any heat. If they are in the sun or heat, they may turn to a spoiled smell.

I do hope you get to try to make your very own signature fragrance!

Lots of love,

Lisa

February Is Heart Month!

Love Your Valentine! http://princessmouseycards.com

Love Your Valentine!
http://princessmouseycards.com

February if filled with love being that Valentine’s Day is in February. We must remember that February is also Heart Month & Go Red For Women. At Valentine’s Day we tend to give lots of chocolates, cupcakes, cookies and candy that we easily forget about our resolutions we made a month ago. Well, keep in mind that our hearts are what keeps us going and we need them healthy. We also need them to keep loving! I posted this pic of me prepping some Paleo & Vegetarian Goodies on my Instagram @PrincessMousey over the weekend, so I really do follow the healthier living lifestyle!

I wanted to give you some options to give to your Valentine that are heart healthy. Yes, chocolate is on the list, but make sure it is high cocoa content. I like Chocolove Brand. They have 70% and 73% cocoa bars. Also, inside the bars are Love Poems! Perfect for Valentine’s Day. I have purchased these bars at Whole Foods, Central Market and even our neighborhood store, HEB has them.

Of course, nuts are very heart healthy, especially almonds. I found lots of packaged nuts at Trader Joe’s. I just attached the ‘I’m Nuts About Your Healthy Heart’ card.

I placed the printable on Google Drive for you here, if you would like it: I’m Nuts About Your Healthy Heart

The cutest thing, these are little treats you can place anywhere to surprise your Valentine. I placed one in my husband’s suitcase when he traveled this week. The gym bag is the perfect place that I would like to find a pack of almonds! Place one in the sock / lingerie drawer in the morning to start the day off right with a healthy surprise!

Ok, Keep your heart healthy & Don’t forget to Wear Red For Women Friday, February 6th!

Lots of love,

Show Your Valentine Some Love!

Simple & Sweet Valentine's Day Table Decor http://princessmouseycards.com

Simple & Sweet Valentine’s Day Table Decor
http://princessmouseycards.com

Ok, Now we are really into 2015! Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. I have some simple and inexpensive ways to get your home ready for Valentine’s Day. I heard that more of us are decorating for Valentine’s Day. So sweet! I have a few friends that celebrate the day as their wedding anniversary also.

I got my decor items at my neighborhood Dollar Store. I used the paper doilies that have been around for years, conversation hearts candies, a few simple vases and a few filled candles in glass holders. That’s it!

I used the doilies to make a simple table runner for our formal dining table. I simply placed the doilies face down & taped them together in a pattern. I could have kept going to make the pattern larger & that’s what makes it even better. Make it as big or small to your preference.

For my next decoration, I purchased these perfect sized vases/candle holders. I suppose they have them to be used for both. They are absolutely a perfect purchase! I found these glass candle holders that are filled with candles that fit perfectly in the vases, but leave room for the conversation hearts to line in between the two glasses. The filled candles that I bought are fragranced, but they do not have to be. I simply filled the candies in between the glass of the vase and the glass of the filled candle. A ‘sweet’ part of the candle burning is the fragrance, it gives off a faint smell of the candies, if you get an unscented candle. Lining these up on a mantle or a table would be dreamy & inexpensive!

Wrap It Up!

Twins Christmas Trees #ChristmasTree #MerryChristmas #Christmas

Twin Christmas Trees

Hello Sunshine! How are the Christmas Plans going? How about the shopping? Well, the shopping part for me is done. I always like to ask what everyone wants. I like to give exactly what is needed and wanted and not guess. If I don’t get to ask, then I like to give something I would like to receive. For me, the gift is just the beginning. I love the wrapping! I love to match the wrapping with our trees. I have given a few of our gifts out, but I wanted to show you what I have.

Match The Gift Wrap #colorfulgiftwrap #colorfulchristmas

Match The Gift Wrap

I love those Dollar Bins at Michael’s Craft Shops! I can find $2.00 Gift wrap, $1.50 set of 3 glitter bows and my favorite $2.00 & $1.50 photo frames! Yes, I could buy a more expensive and Christmas looking gift wrap, but I want it to look unique and make it a personalized Christmas Gift. They actually have quite a few prints to choose from and the rolls are lengthy! I do add a magnet to the photo frames just in case my loved on wants to use the frame for a magnet. The frames are very lightweight and a strong magnet works perfectly. I do keep the stand, but I like making it an option for my gift recipient.

$2 Picture Frames For Gift Cards

$2 Picture Frames For Gift Cards

I love the $2.00 Michael’s Craft Shop bin frames for gift cards! So much better to give in something that can be used again.

Bow & Picture Frame

Bow & Picture Frame

I got these sparkling glitter bows 3/$1.50! Perfect with the gift wrap they had at $1.50 and the $2.00 frame. Place a picture of your ‘Secret Santa’ or write their name. I just love the look of these colors!

Dolce & Gabbana Inspired

Dolce & Gabbana Inspired

It’s true, I am totally inspired by High End Fashion Designers & this wrap is inspired by Dolce & Gabbana! Again, this black and white polka dot wrap was $2.00 in the bins I do have lots of Grosgrain ribbons, but if you don’t, just check to see if any are on sale. Oh, these are the smaller frames at $1.50. The rhinestone ribbon is separate. I added that to the red and black ribbon. Like I said, this is Dolce & Gabbana inspired.

Add An Ornament #Giftwrapping

Add An Ornament

The reindeer is tree ornament. I purchased them in a package of 10 for $3.00. Tape Grosgrain Ribbon with double stick tape onto package. Add Rhinestone ribbon for extra sparkle & place an ornament for more decor.

Gift Tag Frame #GiftTag #GiftWrap

Gift Tag Frame

I simply made 2 bows with wired ribbon and taped them on the top and then taped the frame on top of the bow, so the actual bow is not fancy at all!

I hope some of these tips help in your Christmas Gift wrapping! Let me know how it goes!

Lots of love,

Lisa

Add A Little Holiday Cheer

Advent Begins

Advent Begins

Hello Sunshine! Do you feel it? Do you feel The Christmas Spirit? Our home is slowly becoming a Winter Wonderland. It will be done by Three Kings’ Day, for sure.

I like to add little bits of holiday decor in our everyday decor by adding printable in picture frames. I got a great picture frame at Tuesday Morning once for $2! Yes, the back holder bracket was broken, but I knew I could place it on a plate stand and it would look even better!

I found this great gold frame above at Jerry’s Artarama in the bargain bin for 30% off original price. Yes, it needs a little love, but I wanted to show you what a great bargain! Of course, I have been to a thrift shop and there are loads of frames there! So, always look for frames and if you see a broken bracket, think about getting a very decorative stand. It will make it even more beautiful!

I have these three printables if you would like to add them to your decor. Simply print them up & use them in your home. I love the Oh Christmas Tree printable in the Man Cave! It really adds to the colors of the Christmas Tree we decorated.

Oh Christmas Tree

Oh Christmas Tree

I keep the Isaiah 9:6 in our family area because I don’t ever want us to forget that Jesus is the reason for the season. This printable is perfect for this bargain gold frame.

Now, the Dear Santa printable is for our entryway. We will be placing our cookies for Santa on the table next to the tree & we just want to give him a friendly reminder that we have been really good!

Dear Santa

Dear Santa

So, we had Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday & now comes ~ #GivingTuesday!

Small Christmas Tree, Big Christmas Spirit

Man Cave Christmas Tree

Man Cave Christmas Tree

Wow, what a beautiful Thanksgiving! Lots of family & love, well I think those 2 are the same. I do not do the Black Friday Shopping. I believe the last time I did that was in my 20’s, so maybe it’s just that I am too old to hang with the crowds. We do have a tradition of going to Mass on Friday, so I am grateful for another day together of being able to enjoy, praise & give thanks.

I mentioned in my Thanksgiving Series that one of our traditions is to decorate our Christmas Tree. For us it’s the perfect time because we are all together. We have a few heirloom & our childhood ornaments, so we get to go through those together every year. Sometimes I change the color of the Christmas Tree decorations, so it can be a joke to see what color the tree decorations will be this year! I say Christmas Tree’s because I have always liked lots of them. I would buy them after Christmas on sale and I could never find it in my heart to get rid of the ones I used before. I had 14′ ceilings in my previous home and I enjoyed decorating that tree, but now we don’t have high ceilings ~ so I did get rid of that one. When my son was younger, he had a Christmas Tree in his room, a 6′ Tree! Anyway, I just love to have The Christmas Spirit all through our home.

So, I got this adorable & small 3′ tree last year on sale after Christmas for $5 at Hobby Lobby, I couldn’t pass up that bargain. I do get allergies, so we use artificial trees, but I do miss the living trees we always had in my childhood. I decided to put it up in ‘The Man Cave’ of our home. It’s just our family room, but it’s where he watches Gold Rush & ALL of the Bravo TV Shows, he loves drama. We shopped at the store, Big Lots. I was looking for somewhere to go fast before Thanksgiving Day & it was close to the home. It was actually the only time I had been in the store, but I thought I would give it a try. I found lots of $3, $4 decorations and ribbon. In addition, I had a few items from my other Christmas Tree’s. Ha Ha Ha, no surprise!

Small Christmas Tree Big Spirit

Small Christmas Tree Big Spirit

So, you can see what we came up with! I really love to fill the tree with ornaments! For this 3′ Christmas Tree, I used 2 packs (24) of the globe ornaments & 2 packs (6) of the silver bird ornaments. I used the whole roll of the Tree Scarfing / Ribbon. The Poinsettia Topper I had from a previous year & the berry stems also. I really like to tie the ornaments on with ribbon, because I love to alternate the colors & it really makes for more color during the day when the Christmas Tree may not be lit. I get the fabric ribbon spools from Michael’s Craft Store, the .50 rolls are a great type of ribbon for this & they have so many colors that you should be able to find the colors you are decorating with. For the silver birds, I thought I was going to come home & really add to them, but I decided to just hang long ribbons to the clips. Again, .50 ribbon are a great way to add a little pizzazz to your tree. Also, the globe ornaments are easy to untie for breaking down the Christmas Tree & if you have pets that like to play with the globes, you are able to really tie the globes tight if you need to. Hopefully, they do not play with them too much to knock down the entire tree. Yikes!

You can see our Christmas Tree really goes well with our decor & that is the way I decorate only because I place Christmas Spirit in every room. We do have an Heirloom Christmas Tree & Traditional Christmas Tree that do not necessarily match with the decor of our home and are absolutely perfect! I really love to have Christmas Spirit through our home. Not because we forget, but because I love to see the lights shining on the Christmas Tree. The Evergreen Tree represents The Tree of Life in Christianity & that is the connection to having the Christmas Tree.

Well, for this little tree, I believe it is really a bargain! When I add the inexpensive items, like the few decorations from the previous year (poinsettia & the berries)  and the .50 ribbon to the $3 & $4 items, it really came out to be a Big Spirited Christmas Tree! It is just a little way of looking at inexpensive ornaments and adding just a little bit to make a Big Wow!

Of course, all decorations and the bright lights aside, in my family we always remember that Jesus is the reason for the season & it doesn’t matter how many trees or decorations we have.

Lots of Love,

Lisa
